 Description

Tandem learning is a one-to-one learning activity between language learners and is essentially a peer-to-peer activity.

In this workshop we will create teaching and learning activities, such as role play, interviewing, chain stories and webtours, all of which will primarily be designed for the use of Instant Messaging, such as Skype, MSN, Yahoo Chat!, and ICQ. Instant Messaging has come a long way from being a simple text chat tool to becoming a multi-medial Internet phone solution.

When it comes to training all four skills -- listening, reading, writing and speaking. Instant Messengers like Skype come very close to the potential of a virtual classroom. Skype, combined with whiteboard tools, slide presentation tools and the potential of webtouring, creates a formidable communication device to provide language lessons at a distance.
